“Snow in Mallorca” red tulip Christmas bouquet: a red and white winter contrast, hand-delivered across Mallorca

“Snow in Mallorca” is a red tulip bouquet for Christmas: tulips in bud among fir, ilex berries and white branches that look dusted with frost. These are our snow tulips, the Mallorcan way to bring a white winter indoors.

Ekaterina builds it stem by stem on our counter in Coll d'en Rabassa, using flowers that have just come in, and our own van carries it wherever it needs to go in Mallorca. The photo shows the 10-tulip bouquet just as it leaves the shop: red tulips still closed, noble fir, clusters of red ilex berries and snowy branches rising above them, wrapped in white paper with snowflakes and stars and tied with a greyish-blue ribbon. You can order it with 10, 15, 20 or 25 tulips. The red of the tulips is fixed; the paper, ribbon and type of greenery can change depending on the day's materials. If it's for December, booking in advance makes life easier.

What's in the “Snow in Mallorca” bouquet

Red tulips
They arrive in bud and open slowly in the vase; you decide how many: 10, 15, 20 or 25.

Fir and ilex
Winter green from the fir and red ilex berries that echo the colour of the flowers.

Snowy branches
Stems of snowy vetula: white twigs that mimic snow on the island and give the bouquet its name.

How to care for your Christmas tulips

  1. Clean vase, angled cut: take off the paper, snip each stem on a slant and set the bouquet in fresh water, refreshing it often.
  2. Let them grow: a tulip keeps lengthening in water and swings towards the brightest spot; give the vase a turn now and again and keep it clear of sunny windowsills, heaters and fruit.
  3. Branches and berries: keep the snowy branches out of the water and try not to splash them; the ilex berries are decorative and not for eating, so place the bouquet where little ones and pets cannot reach it.

FAQ about the “Snow in Mallorca” bouquet

How many tulips are in the bouquet?

You choose: 10, 15, 20 or 25 red tulips, selected on the product page before you add it to your basket. The one in the photo has 10, the original recipe, with five stems of snowy vetula, one of ilex and several sprigs of fir. Go for 15, 20 or 25 and you simply get more tulips, while the style, with its fir, ilex and snowy branches, stays the same.

Can you get tulips in December?

Yes. Tulips are a winter and spring flower, so December is no problem at all. We bring them to the door still in bud, just as pictured, and they open gradually at home.

Why do my tulips bend in the vase?

Because a cut tulip carries on growing: the stems lengthen in the water and the heads lean towards the nearest window or lamp. They are not wilting; it is simply what tulips do. For straighter stems, give the vase a half-turn each day and, when you refresh the water, snip the ends on a slant. A spot clear of the fruit bowl, the heating and full sunshine suits them best.

Can I have it with tulips in another colour?

This bouquet only comes in red: the red against the white branches is what gives it its name. If you would like tulips in another colour, without the Christmas touches, have a look at our year-round tulip bouquet, where you pick the colour yourself.

Will mine match the photo?

Very closely. The red tulips in the quantity you choose, the fir, the ilex and the snowy branches always go in. What can vary with the day's availability is the exact shade of red, the type of greenery, the paper and the ribbon. In the photo the paper is white with snowflakes and stars and the ribbon is a greyish blue; yours may be different, with the same wintry feel.

When can it arrive, and should I book ahead?

Day and time window are chosen in the last step of checkout. December is when our routes are busiest, so once the date is settled, reserve it in advance. In a hurry for today? We can often manage it. As a rough rule, anything ordered before 9:00 tends to be delivered before lunch, while anything ordered before 13:00 tends to go out later that afternoon. On weekdays the van heads out from 10:00 to 14:00 and again from 16:00 to 20:00; Saturdays are mornings only (10:00–14:00), and there are no rounds on Sundays. If you're nearby, collecting from the shop works as well. Ring or message us on WhatsApp at +34 658 838 056 with any query.

Which other Christmas bouquets could I choose?

It depends on what you are after. For something with no flowers, just winter greenery and cotton, see the “Polar Star” Christmas bouquet. If red roses are more your style, there is “Gloria”, with eucalyptus and fir; and for white tulips with amaryllis and cotton, “White Harmony”. “Snow in Mallorca” is the one with red tulips.
