Autumn bouquets in Mallorca: pumpkins, foliage and warm colours

A tiny pumpkin tucked between flowers, burgundy leaves or a golden fern can change the whole character of a bouquet. Autumn brings warm colours and contrasting textures into arrangements that feel just as appropriate as a gift as they do on a table at home.

At Floristería Mallorca, we have explored this look in several designs. Here are five examples of our work, from Atardecer Otoñal with its little yellow pumpkins to a floral arrangement built around a pumpkin base.

What gives a bouquet an autumn feel?

Orange and yellow bring light, red and burgundy add depth, and cream softens the combination. You do not need every colour: two or three shades can express the season beautifully.

Texture matters too. Broad leaves beside small flowers, trailing amaranthus and decorative dried elements create interest at close range. Small pumpkins contrast with petals and stems through their rounded shape.

We are describing an autumn aesthetic, rather than suggesting that every flower naturally blooms in Mallorca at this time of year. Nor is all the foliage necessarily dried. The look comes from the way colours, forms and materials work together.

Five designs from our florist

Atardecer Otoñal: little pumpkins among the flowers

Ramo Atardecer Otoñal

Atardecer Otoñal combines little yellow pumpkins with red and orange flowers, yellow orchids and green foliage. Its cheerful character makes it an inviting reference for an autumn birthday or a thank-you gift.

At home, picture it on a clear console or wooden table. A simple, stable vase lets the flowers and pumpkins take centre stage.

Montreal: rich reds and burgundy foliage

The Montreal bouquet offers a deeper autumn palette. Its photograph shows red anthuriums, roses, burgundy foliage and trailing elements, with green and golden contrasts.

The leaves help shape the outline as much as the flowers do. This is a useful reference for someone who enjoys strong colour and arrangements with real presence.

Reflejos de Otoño: a tropical interpretation

In Reflejos de Otoño, orange birds of paradise rise above lilac roses, purple foliage and golden accents. Different heights give the arrangement movement.

Lilac and orange make an expressive combination, held together by deeper burgundy tones. A hallway or living room with enough space around the bouquet would allow its complete silhouette to be appreciated.

Lírica: golden leaves and softer shades

Lírica pairs softly coloured flowers with golden fern leaves and warm-toned wrapping. It shows that autumn flowers can also be gentle and understated.

The decorative leaves add light and texture. A pale background, simple ceramics and natural fabrics would complement the bouquet's quieter shades.

Flowers arranged on a pumpkin

Calabaza Halloween
Calabaza Halloween · Floristería Mallorca

Our Calabaza Halloween arrangement uses a pumpkin as its base. Orange flowers, greens and trailing details create a richly textured composition.

Although Halloween appears in its name, it can also inspire an autumn lunch or home decoration. For a dining table, the height and width should suit the available space, leaving room for plates and conversation.

Choosing an autumn gift or decoration

Start with the recipient's taste: cheerful Atardecer Otoñal, dramatic Montreal and softer Lírica express very different moods. For your own home, decide where the flowers will stand before choosing their shape.

A low centrepiece is often practical on a dining table. A console can accommodate a taller bouquet in a suitable vase. Wood and cream tones sit comfortably with gold and terracotta; a red or burgundy arrangement can become a focal point in a neutral room.

Caring for an autumn arrangement

Fresh flowers still need water even when the bouquet includes dried or decorative elements. Use a clean vase, keep leaves out of the water, refresh the water regularly and remove fading flowers. Trim the stems slightly when changing the water.

On warm autumn days, keep the arrangement cool and away from direct sunlight and air-conditioning draughts. Avoid wetting dried decorations. For a pumpkin-based centrepiece, ask for instructions specific to its construction and protect the surface underneath. Its lifespan depends on both the flowers and the natural base.

Frequently asked questions

Must an autumn bouquet contain dried flowers?

No. Fresh flowers and foliage can create the look through colour and composition. Some designs also include dried or decorative materials.

Are pumpkins only suitable for Halloween?

They can also be used as autumn decoration, either tucked among flowers or as the base of a centrepiece.

Can I order one of the designs shown here?

Check the product page and contact us about availability. Some examples may be sold out. Tell us the design name and the date you need it.

Can the whole bouquet be kept after drying?

Not every component keeps equally well. Some dried elements can be saved, while fresh flowers and pumpkins deteriorate. Ask which parts of your arrangement are worth keeping.

What should I include in an enquiry?

Tell us the date, approximate budget, preferred colours and whether it is a gift or a decoration. For delivery, include the town or postcode so we can check the conditions.
